Guinean gets two years

Alpha Keita, a 23-year old Guinean, has been sentenced to a two-year jail term by Magistrate Njie of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

The accused was involved in a house breaking and theft, contrary to the criminal laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of the offence, Alpha Keita, on August 29, 2007 at Tujereng, Kombo South broke into the house of Foday Jatta with the intention to commit felony.

On count two, Alpha Keita also stole a generator valued at D2,600; being the property of the complainant. When the two counts were read to him, Keita pleaded guilty.

He was then convicted and sentenced to one year jail term on count one, and another year on count two with hard labour. All sentences run consecutively, according to the Magistrate.
