BAC spends over D500,000 on scholarship

Brikama Area Council, one of the biggest local councils in the country has taken a bold step in spending over half a million dalasis towards the education sector. This was disclosed by the acting Chairman of the Council, Ousman Gaye, in an interview with the Daily Observer over the weekend.
 
According to him, the  sum represents the amount for the purchase of 4000 exercise books,  totaling D40,000 for the needy students; D500,000 to meet scholastic aids of the students, and D10,000 transport fares for students at Armitage Senior Secondary School.
He made it categorically clear that all the beneficiaries of this programme are students from the Western Region.
 
Acting Chairman Gaye, then spoke of his council’s commitment to continue supporting the needy students in the field of education.
