Sunday, June 10, 2007

The Department of State for Local Government and Lands, in collaboration with the Task Force on Billboards and Signboards, has observed with dismay that despite the embargo on the erection and development of bill and signboards, including kiosks, certain individuals, institutions or companies still remain heedless.

The authorities pointed out that this defiance violates the embargo and the Physical Planning and Development Control Act.
According to the authorities, violators will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Reports indicated that all the kiosks and boards owners have been served with demolition notices and are yet to comply with the content of the notice. The authorities then warned the billboard and kiosks owners to act accordingly, adding that any failure to comply will compel the Department of Physical Planning and Housing to act.

The Local Government and Lands Department and Task force indicated that defaulters will be charged accordingly.
They then added: “Bill boards and kiosks owners who had obtained development permit for their boards and kiosks are requested to contact the Director, Department of Physical Planning and Housing for scrutiny and further advice.”
