The World Bank official assured them of his organization’s continued commitment to supporting the development needs of the target communities, and used the opportunity to call on the beneficiaries to ensure sustainability of the projects. The project coordinator, Lamin Jarjusey, stressed the need for communities to make maximum use of the funds by ensuring that the projects are executed as agreed with the project endorsement committee.
He assured them that the project will continue to capacitate the beneficiaries to promote bottom-up approaches by creating an enabling environment through which communities will discuss and prioritize their own development agenda. The chairman of Kerewan Area Council, Alhaji Lamin Ceesay, also hailed CDDP and their development partners for their invaluable contribution in the drive towards poverty reduction.
He noted that funds disbursed would go a long way in enhancing the livelihood of the communities. Chairman Ceesay assured the gathering of the council’s fullest support.
