Vivian chidid meets VP

The vice president and secretary of state for women’s affairs, Aja Dr Isatou Njie Saidy, yesterday afternoon, received in audience Vivian Chidid, a renowned Senegalese musician, in her office at State House in Banjul.

Speaking to reporters shortly after her audience with the Gambia’s vice president, Vivian told reporters that her visit to State House was meant to thank the Gambian leader, Professor Alhagie Yahya Jammeh, and the vice president herself, for the good work they are doing for the country. She added that the visit was also prompted by the desire to thank them for their support to Gambia Ports Authority.

The famous Senegalese music diva described her musical performance in the country as successful, saying that the general public turned out in their masses to support the Gambia Port Authority’s fund raising activities.

Hali Abdoulie Gai, director of revenue generation and marketing at the Gambia Ports Authority, told reporters that his institution had been collaborating with the Senegalese Mbalax star for the past three years under the GPA’s Operation Promote Excellence in Sciences (OPES) initiative. He noted that the main objective of the OPES initiative is to generate fund to enable them finance their projects under the initiative.

He further revealed that through their numerous fundraising activities with Vivian Chidid, they were able to meet some of their financial demands for the OPES initiative.
The GPA’s director of revenue generation and marketing hailed President Jammeh and his vice president for their continued support.
