Over fifty drivers and health staff, over the weekend are currently under a five-day training on Transport Asset Management (TAM) in Bansang CRR South.

The training is organised by Riders for Health in collaboration with department of state for Health and Social Welfare. In his opening remarks on behalf of the Secretary of state for Health and Social Welfare as well as the regional governor, the chief executive officer, Janjanbureh Area Council, Yuspha Manneh said, a good transport service is an important factor in the socio–economic development of any nation.

He stated that this fact is known to the government of President Jammeh saying “government is constantly constructing and rehabilitating the country’s road networks and donating new vehicles to all sectors of government”.

He pointed out that Riders has successfully secured 3. 5 million dollars from Skoll Foundation to purchase the transport needs for the TAM programme. The Deputy programme Manager of Riders for Health, Cherno Jallow, called the drivers and riders to take good care of the mechines in order to serve long. He further advised them to take ownership of the vehicles and bikes.
