With his two-year contract with the Belgian giants, SK Lierse, set to expire at the end of the season, the Gambian international, Mustapha Jarju, commonly known as Toubabo, has been offered a new deal that will keep him at the Scandinavian club for five seasons, Observer Sports can reveal.

The former Wallidan and Steve Biko midfielder, who is currently the top scorer in the club, has neither accepted nor rejected the proposal yet.

“Lierse have offered me a new contract proposal for 5 seasons. I have had a good run since my arrival and I love the club and her supporters, therefore the chance that I will remain is certainly existing” , revealed the crafted midfielder who has 14 goals to his name this season.

Despite declaring his desire to stay with the club, Toubabo insisted that he did not wish to stay for five years.

“Five years! Well I find that a little long. If I am to stay, it may be for a period of 3 years or so,” he said.

The player also wants Lierse to fight for promotion to the Belgian Division One league after their shock relegation to the lower league last season.

Mustapha Jarju and Assan Jatta joined SK Lierse in 2007 from Steve Biko, at a tune of 75,000 Euro each.

While striker Assan Jatta failed to adapt to life at Lierse, Mustapha Jarju quickly established himself as one of the club’s best signings and fans’ idol.
