Delay in release of 2nd round fixtures

Tuesday, April 22, 2008
The Organising Committee of The Gambia Football Association is yet to release the fixtures for the second round of the Division One league, after nine days since the first-round ended.

Football enthusiasts have been waiting impatiently to see the second round matches commence in earnest after a fascinating first-half round matches that saw the Division One League returnees, Samger, maintain the top spot since dayone games.

The Serrekunda East side won six and drew three out of the eleven games played, as they prepare to return to business with twenty-one points under their belt - three points ahead of the second best, Real de Banjul.

However, the Banjul club have been hot on Samger’s heels, as they hope to retain their crown.

Interior, Sea View, Bakau United and Gamtel have all had poor first-round runs as they currently languish at the bottom. The relegation-threatened quartet will undoubtedly hope to avoid a repeat of their first-round lacklustre performances when the second round commences.
