Thursday, December 27, 2007

The Borrow kunda Beakanyang Kafoo, a registered charity operating in the Upper River Region, last Thursday donated brand new Tobaski clothes to its sponsored orphans in the village of Wuli Barrow Kunda.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, held at the organisation’s new offices, Mr. Nfamara Jawneh, the orphans care project coordinator, said the donation was meant to enable orphans to enjoy the Muslim feast of Tobaski.
He reaffirmed his organisation’s commitment to creating a child-friendly environment for all children especially orphans. He encouraged the community of Barrow Kunda to continue sending their children to school, as education is very important.

He also advised people to protect children from abuse and exploitation both at home and in the wider community.
For his part, Foday Barrow, Alkalo of the village, applauded Beakanyang.

Alkali Kebbah, assistant secretary of Beakanyang chaired the occasion, which was attended by a cross section of the Barrow Kunda community. Yaya Wally, a beneficiary orphan, delivered the vote of thanks.
