Red Cross Donates to Flood Victims

The Gambia Red Cross Society recently handed over a consignment of relief items to flood victims of Sinchu Baliya in Kombo North.

The items, valued at D450, 000, include 30 bags of rice, 31 bed-sheets, 31 mattresses, 31 buckets and 200 bars of soap.

Deputizing for the secretary general of the Gambia Red Cross at the presentation of the items, Mr. Lamin Gassama expressed the willingness and commitment of the Gambia Red Cross in supporting the poor and the needy.

He advised the beneficiaries to put the items to proper use.

The Chairman of Brikama Area Council, Mr. Ousman Gaye, commended GRCS for the ‘positive response’, saying that the donation was a demonstration of a high sense of responsibility on the part of GRCS as first aid provider. He added that the donation was made when it was most needed by the beneficiaries.
