As Counsels’ Adoption of Addresses Drags

The case involving Mr Kawsu Ceesay, the former Chief Electoral Officer of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), suffered another setback on 15th February when the State Counsel and the Defence Counsel were expected to adopt their written addresses before Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

The adoption of the written addresses could not go ahead because the presiding Magistrate was not present in court due to illness. As a result, the case was adjourned by the clerk to 22nd February, 2008, for continuation.

It would be recalled that Mr Kawsu Ceesay was first arraigned before Magistrate Secka of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with forging Mr. Ndondi Njie’s signature, an allegation he has denied.

During the course of successive hearings on the matter, both prosecution and defence called their witnesses who gave testimonies.
