Son sentenced to four months in Jail

Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court, yesterday convicted and sentenced Momodou Gassama to four months imprisonment, with hand labour. Momodou Gassama was found guilty of threatening to kill his father, Modou Jabbi, earlier this year.

Reading his judgment Magistrate Mbacke told the accused that the court “has taken with great care the evidences of the prosecution witnesses and the accused himself.”

He said the court has therefore found the accused guilty of the offence.

He further said that the prosecution has proven their case beyond reasonable doubt. “The evidence of your father was corroborated by the other prosecution witnesses,” he told the accused.

Magistrate Mbacke described Momodou Gassama, the accused as very rude and someone, who has no respect for his aging father.

In his plea, Momodou Gassama, the accused told the court that he would never do such a thing and then asked the court for forgiveness.

However, arriving at his final verdict, Senior Magistrate Mbacke convicted and sentenced Momodou Gassama to four months in prison, with hard labour.
