In Gacem theft case Court urged to discharge, acquit accused

As the case in the forty-six bags of cement alleged to have been stolen from Gacem continues before the court, Lawyer Abdoulie Sissoho, Counsel for Musa Camara, one of the accused persons, has urged the court to accordingly discharge and acquit his client.

In his submission on Thursday before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, Lawyer Sissoho, said he has reservation about the charges relating to his client.

He further submitted that the charge before the court was illegal, because it infringes on the law. He, therefore, applied to the court to discharge and acquit his client accordingly.

Lawyer Sissoho further added that the four accused persons were jointly charged under the same offence.

In response, Police Prosecutor, 870 Touray, said “the charge is clear and there is no need to amend it”.

The case continues on Tuesday.

It could be recalled that Musa Camara was among other six accused persons: namely Joseph Mendy, Samba Jallow, Alhagie Fofana, Samba Nyang, Sarah Ceesay, and Amidou Mohamed, charged with stealing forty-six bags of cement, worth D9,666, from Gacem Company.

They denied the charges.
