Jamaly Cluster, which consists of nine villages, is to benefit from a modern health centre in Central River Region North. Speaking at a meeting held in Jamaly recently the head of the Cornwall Churches Link with The Gambia Mrs. Elaine Horner, said the link is going to provide a modern health centre for the Jamaly cluster. According to her, the fund is already here and their ultimate aim is to help poor and needy people.
For his part the Rev. Father (for Janjanbureh Chapter) Malanding Mendy said this project came about as a result of the various demands of the cluster people during their visits. The Rev. Father went on to highlight some of the achievements of the link stating that over fifty students in CRR are sponsored by it.
Mr. Ousman Njie, the link coordinator, said according to plans the health centre will have a labour room, two consultative rooms, a pharmacy, stores, dressing rooms and a waiting room.
He added that the health centre will be directly under Jamaly Cluster but will be supervised by the Methodist mission in Janjanbureh.
Mrs. Isatou Ceesay of Future in Our Hands (FIOH) said Jamaly Cluster deserved assistance as they are hard working and committed.
According to Mrs. Ceesay FIOH has been working with Jamaly Cluster for the past number of years. In this time there have been a number of developments including the building of a Lower Basic school, a skills centre and the training of women to become self employed all thanks to FIOH. The Alkalo of Jamaly, Demba Njie also spoke at length on the importance of health.
