Nigerian remanded for robbery

Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrate Court yesterday sent one Newton Nefe, a Nigerian national, to remand at the State Central Prison, Mile II.

Newton Nefe who is residing in The Gambia faces the charge of robbery with violence contrary to Section 273 of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Vol. 3, laws of The land.

According to the particulars of the offence, on May 25th, 2008 at Sukuta in t Kombo North, Western Region, Newton Nefe, robbed with violence one Susan Baxter, thereby, causing her actually bodily harm.  

During yesterday proceedings, Magistrate Camara asked the accused person whether he would secure the service of a consul before taking his plea, but the accused responded positively.  She then adjourned the case to July 1, in order to enable the accused acquire the service of a lawyer.

Police Inspector L Touray represented the I.G.P at the trial.
