17 yr old docked for theft

A 17-year old boy name (withheld) was on Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate BO Jobe of the Bundung Magistrates Court charged with stealing. When the charge sheet was read to him, he pleaded guilty.

According to the particulars of the offense, the boy was on 20th September 2008 caught stealing from a vehicle at Brufut, Kombo North. The car in question belongs to one Ansu Jammeh.

However, the proceedings came to a halt when it was discovered that the defendant was in fact a juvenile.

The police prosecutor, Corporal 1781 Kinteh, then made an application to transfer the case to the juvenile court.

Magistrate Jobe granted his application.
