Brikama Kabafita Kindergarten Wattensheid Nursery School, a German sponsored school, on Saturday, inaugurated a dental clinic at a ceremony held at the school premises in Brikama Kabafita.
Delivering her inaugural speech, Ms Hawa Sanneh, the Headmistress of Brikama Kabafita Kindergarten Wattensheid Nursery School, said the project focuses on the health and nutritional matters, to enhance the growth and development of the children.
Ms Sanneh thanked the donors for the gesture, saying this goes towards the complementing of Government’s effort to make health care services accessible to every citizen. She expressed hope that the clinic will go a long way in augmenting the dental health care services in community and in the country as a whole.
Muhammed Saho, Public Health Officer for Western Region, said the cause of oral illnesses are due to eating of sugary substances and implored on parent’s to be watchful about the diets of their children.
Bolong Sanneh, Chairman of the Parent Teachers Association, thanked the foundation for making education accessible to the under-privileged children in the region and its satellite villages.
However, Mr Sanneh used the occasion to commend the government for the peace enjoying in the country, noting that “this encourages donor organisations to give assistance to the people of this country”.
Other speakers at the occasion was included Grad Brutte, Chairman of the German Committee. The occasion was characterised by cultural dancing and attended by Ebrima Dampha, Public Relations Officer of the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation with some other dignitaries.
