‘Paedophile’ case adjourned

Monday, September 15, 2008
The criminal case against Anthony Michael Dobson, the Norwegian national who is standing trial on allegations of defiling a young girl (name withheld) and child pornography, was recently convened and adjourned at the Brikama Magistrates Court.

The adjournment was reportedly caused by the absence of the presiding magistrate.
Mustapha Drammeh, Mr Dobson’s Gambian counterpart, is also facing charges for procuring a young girl for him [Mr Dobson] at his residence at the Yaram Bamba Estate, along the Kombo Coastal Road. Both have so far pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

When the case resumed last Thursday, the presiding magistrate, Ayoub John Njie, was reported to be indisposed and the next sitting was set for September 17.

It could be recalled that during the last sitting, the police prosecutor, ASP Touray, filed a no-court-bail application for the two accused persons, which was granted by the presiding magistrate.
