Kanilai ‘spy’ trial stalled

Monday, September 15, 2008
The case of the Guinean national, who was arrested in Kanilai on suspicion of spying, was last Thursday adjourned at the Brikama Magistrates Court to September 17 for continuation.

The adjournment came as a result of the absence of the presiding magistrate.
Inacoio Catanosa was said to have fallen into police net between the months of June and July, this year, in Kanilai, Western Region, when he was “caught in the act of spying”. He has since pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

During the last sitting, however, the police prosecutor, ASP Touray, had applied for an adjournment of the case to enable the prosecution to seek legal advice from the AG Chambers and the application had been granted by the presiding magistrate.
