Cheat sentenced

One Sarja Jallow, a Sierra Leonean, was on Monday arraigned before the Brikama Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh. He was charged with cheating.

According to the particulars of the case, on the 6th of October, 2008 around 10.00am at the Banjul International Airport in Yundum, Sarja Jallow cheated The Gambia International Airlines by buying an infant air ticket to Sierra Leone for one Mrs Sonia Bangura instead of the adult ticket. The ticket was bought on the pretext that the Sonia Bangura in question was an infant.

Reacting to the charge preferred against him, Sarja Jallow pleaded guilty to the charge.  Magistrate Jammeh then sentenced him to a fine of D5000, in default to spend two years in prison. He was also sentenced to another fine of D5000 (five thousand dalasis) on a second count, in default to serve two years in prison.
