Omar Ndow's case adjourned

Monday, September 17, 2007

The alleged criminal case involving Omar Ndow, former Managing Director of The Gambia Telecommunications Company Ltd (Gamtel), on Tuesday September 11, failed to proceed before Principal Magistrate BY Camara of the Banjul Magistrates Court. Sheriff Tambedou, counsel for the accused person informed the court that he forgot the date set for the hearing of his client’ case.

“It was only when the accused person (Omar Ndow) sent me a text message informing me that the case was set for today and the court was about to start, that I remembered”, he said.

Lawyer Tambedou at that juncture requested that another date be set for the hearing of the case because he was not prepared to proceed with the matter.

Magistrate BY Camara, before adjourning the case, reminded the defence counsel of the need to remember the adjourned dates of clients no matter how busy he may be.

The defence counsel maintained that he forgot the date and vowed that his clients are always his priority. The case was then adjourned for hearing.
