Alhaji Cherno Kah, the Imam Ratib of Banjul, recently returned to the country after successfully concluding his annual tour of Europe and America.

Imam Kah’s trip took him to London, Zurich, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Denmark and United States.

While in the US he visited various states including Washington, North Carolina, Texas and Miami.

In an interview with The Point, Imam Kah explained that the tour was geared towards promoting and propagating the Islamic religion as well as bringing Gambians in the Diaspora together for national development.

The Imam Ratib revealed that during the tour he urged Gambian youths resident in the countries he visited to follow Islam and practise it in accordance with the teachings of the holy Quran.

“I advised them to always remember their home country by striving hard to contribute to infrastructural development by way of building houses which they could rent out or live in when they return home, to take care of their parents back home in The Gambia. I also urged them to be law-abiding by respecting the laws of the countries they are currently residing in.”

He further revealed that while in the Diaspora, he held series of conferences and Gamos which he said were attended by Gambians and other African nationals as well as nationals of the countries he visited.

He said he used the fora to preach the gathering on the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW) and on Islam in general, describing the tour as a total success.

He said:“I advised the youths to have moral values, good character and to work hard. I also preached them on Islam, and assured them that Islam is a religion which promotes peace and humanity.”

Imam Ratib Kah was accompanied on the tour by his Secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Ngum.
