Band materials for Gambia Scout Association

The Gambia Scout Association last Wednesday received band materials from The Gambia Scout Project in the UK, at a presentation ceremony held at the Little Trees Skills Training Centre at the Scout Camp Site, Bakoteh Layout.

Speaking at the ceremony, Seedy Badjie, chairperson of the project said The Gambia Scout Association was formed since 1987, citing that, their project is a self help project with different branches.  He said the skill centre is aimed at helping youths to engage in skills training.

According to him, the project had also been contributing a lot to the uplifting of the at Mansakonko camp, noting that, there had been numerous developments since its establishment and had been doing a lot to the development of youths of the country.  He said the project had not only come up with the band but also a medical stuff for the Jammeh Foundation for Peace Hospital in Bundung. and expressed hope that the band will be put into good use.

For his part, Andrew Geddes, the project leader in UK said the donation aimed at upgrading the band of The Gambia Scout Association. He revealed that  equipping the band will greatly help in it’s fundraising scheme.

Ousman P Jatta, the acting chief scout commissioner,  saluted the donors, noting that The Gambia Scout Association has a big role to play in the development of youths in this country.  He said Andrew Geddes is someone who had been contributing a lot to the development of The Gambia Scout Association describing him as a true friend of the Gambia Scout Association.

Receiving the medical items on behalf of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace hospital, Saikou Ceesay, the administrator of the hospital, thanked the donors for their benevolent gesture. He said that  the item will go a long way in easing their job and expressed hope that the relationship will continue.

Maimuna Bah- Trawally, the secretary to Gender and Communication, described the day as joyous for the scout fraternity. She thanked the donors and assured them that the materials will be put into good use.
