The Coca Cola manufacturing and bottling firm, Gambega Ltd, last Friday, made a presentation of gifts worth over D49,000, to the SOS Children’s Village, in honour of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Friday’s presentation ceremony was held at the premises of SOS, in Bakoteh, and the donated items included bags of rice, sugar, potatoes and onions; mattresses, bed sheets and some cleansing materials.
Presenting the items on behalf of the firm, Mr Saja Sambou, Gambega’s human resource manager, cited the practice of sharing during the Holy Month of Ramadan as inspiration for their donation of these items to the orphanage. The gesture, he said, also showcases Coca-Cola Gambega’s long standing partnership with SOS International, and SOS The Gambia, in particular.
According to Mr Sambou, Coca-Cola and SOS Children’s Village share some common values, and these values are “a spirit of caring and sharing”.
“Raising these children,” he went on, “is the collective responsibility of institutions, government and individuals.”
He noted that this latest donation was not the first, assuring them that it was not going be the last either “because Coca-Cola and SOS children’s village have been partners for a long time now”.
In receiving the items on behalf of the children, Oumie Taal, acting national director, SOS Children’s Village, thanked Gambega Coca-Cola for their gesture and assured them that the items would be put to good use.
