Youth and migration

Sunday, April 19, 2009
Editor,

I will like to take this opportunity to express my deepest sympathy to the families of those who lost loved ones in the recent tragedy in the Libyan seas. As a Gambian who has migrated to America, I understand the strong desire and need to find a better way of life to support our families and loved ones at home in The Gambia. Doing things illegally and hastily can never be good. Therefore, we must allow Allah to do things in his own time, rather than forcing things.

For those young people trying to migrate in the same way, please think of the loss you may cause to your family and the country. While waiting for the legal means to immigrate, please try to find ways to improve life around you in your own country. My prayers go out to all those affected by this great tragedy.
Before you can achieve, you must believe.
