WR women on training

The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights (ACDHRS), on behalf of the Solidarity for African Women Rights (SOAWR), on Tuesday, commenced a 3-day training program on women empowerment for grassroots communities in Region Two at the Gambia College, Brikama.

The training involves 30 women from across the Western Region. In her welcoming remarks, the director of the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS), Hannah Foster, highlighted the significance of the training.

She said it will make women understand their rights and roles in their communities.  She finally implored the participants to make good use of the training. Lamin Sanneh, governor, WR, reminded women about the importance of their work in the community. 

For his part, the chief of Kombo Central, Bakary Santang Bojang, revealed that this training will help not only women but men as well.  He added that the training will raise awareness about  girls education especially in rural areas.
