Sainey Badjie, a 21-year old boy residing in New Jeshwang and a grade 11 student at Daddy Jobe Comprehensive School, is soliciting assistance from government, institutions, private sector organisations and individuals, to undergo overseas treatment after years of health complications.
According to a medical report from the NDEBA-AN medical centre in Bakau, Sainey has suffered from chronic polyuria and polydypsia over the last few years, associated with loss of weight and intermittent headache. A CT scan of the cranium, according to the report, was performed in 2007 and has revealed the possibility of a mass lesion in the region of the pituitary fossa. Because of the nature of the symptoms, the report continued, a diagnosis of supra-sellar tumour craniopheyngioma cannot be excluded.
The medical centre then recommended that in the event of a confirmed diagnosis, the most likely facility for treatment could be found either in RSA, Europe, USA, Canada or Australia, as this facility is not available here in the country. Another medical report from the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital also recommended that Sainey be sent for an overseas treatment in order to have a speedy recovery.
Anyone wishing to assist Sainey can contact Tundeh Badjie, the father, on 9955937.
