Stratford College reopens -as NTA officially lifts ban

Stratford College of Management, The Gambia has been officially reopened again by the National Training Authority (NTA) to operate its programme.

According to a letter sent to the college by NTA, the authority held a meeting after it had conducted a quality visit to the college, the report of which was unanimously agreed upon to reopen the college.

In a bid to celebrate this recent development, the management of Stratford College last Friday, held a press briefing to rescue the media and the general public about informations regarding the college and to announce that the college has registered adjustments, now fully comply with the standards and principles of the National Training Authority and that come January 2009, all equipment are in place for an effective and efficient learning environment.

Speaking at the press conference, the acting principal and administrator of the college, Njaga Njie said, Statford College has been complying with NTA to fulfill their conditions and assured that they will always continue such measures. He noted that Stratford College is own by Gambians and has a broad that comprises of renown Gambian educationists.

Mr Festus U. Edet, the registrar of the college, remarked that since inception, the college has graduated two batches with the third batch still in progress. He then mentioned the crises the college faced in September saying “ the crises is not the intention of the college but rather, has been created due to the environment and the labour market but they are now fully an accredited NTA centre and the college has a new management and still regains its standard”.

For his part, Desmond Okocha, the public relations officer of the college, informed journalists that all lectures of the college are accredited by NTA and they operate with 15 students per class.   

At the press conference, the various heads of department of the college also spoke exclusively to journalists about the improvements made to ensure that their students receive the best education.
