SoS Sambou visits sub-projects in CRR

The secretary of state for Local Government and Lands, Hon. Ismaila Sambou and high powered officials of his department, were last Wednesday received in the Central River Region by Alhagie Ganyie Touray, the governor of the region.

The purpose of their tour was to visit the Community Driven Development Project (CDDP) sub-projects being implemented in the region and held meetings with the district authorities.  

The secretary of state’s first point of visit was the Sinchu Borra farm implements sub-project and Touba Demba Samma coos milling machine sub-project. Speaking at the ceremonies, SoS Sambou expressed delight towards the level of achievements of the sub-projects in the region. He said the project community driven, allowing the communities to initiate their own development priorities that they believe, will ease the hardship encountered in the grassroot level.  

Bakary Jam Jawo, the chief of Janjangbureh pointed out that CDDP was established to empower communities in order to alleviate poverty.  He commended the government of the Gambia and partners in designing and eventually implementing a new idea in national development. Alhagie Ganyie Touray, the governor of the region, chaired the ceremony.
