Africell-Sait Matty produced an inspired attacking display to beat Steve Biko in the week four fixtures of the Gambia Football Association First Division League last evening at the Brikama Mini-stadium.
Sait Matty’s convincing victory brings to an end a three-match winless run in the league, and it came at the expense of their inconsistent rivals who went into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over Brikama United in the weekend. The telecommunication boys made a fine start and deservingly took the lead in the 17th minute - courtesy of skilful Dimindo Manneh. And Yaya Bayo extended the tally in the 27th with a stunning a goal from a set piece.
Coach Abdoulie Bojang will be concerned at how easily his team's defence was penetrated time and again, and even the introduction of striker Assan Jatta, formerly of SK Lierse in Belgium, did not also help in the aup front, as determined Sait Matty held on to their first three points of the season.
Leaders share the spoils
Elsewhere at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, joint-leaders Bakau United and Sea View shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw. New signing Pa Modou Ngum was again on target for Sea View when he opened the score in the 42nd minute. But a second-half strike from Pa Amadou Gai cancelled out the advantage, with both strikers now having three goals in just four matches.
The draw result means Samger can leapfrog both sides if they garner the maximum points against Brikama United today at the Brikama mini-stadium. Wallidan too will be in action today against Gamtel at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, while Armed Forces face Tallinding United at the Independence Stadium, Bakau.
