Monday, October 12, 2009

Members of Kabafita Community Association under Saamasang Federation recently concluded a two-day sensitisation workshop on the role of parents, children and community associations at their Kabafita office in Brikama.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the youth mobiliser of Bafuloto, Galloyaa, Kunbuneh and Sotokoidaru, Mr Gibril Fatty, said the workshop was organised to acquaint parents on their roles as first educators of children.

He disclosed that there are difficulties in terms of sponsorship as the area is limping behind, compared to their former performance when they used to be the best among all thirty offices throughout the country.

He further disclosed that the reason for the cancellation of the sponsorship culminated from parents’ failure to play their parental role in society.

According to him, children’s performance in the schools also led to the cancellation of the sponsorship package, noting that it would be necessary and proper for parents to carefully monitor the activities of their children in school.

For his part, the Manager of Saamasang Federation, Mr Edrisa Cham, hailed the youths of Kabafita Community Association for their contributions in the activities of the federation, adding that it is indeed a welcome gesture.

Other speakers Alagie Darboe of Kabafita Community Association and Madam Kaddy Manka, both thanked Samasang for their contribution towards the welfare of the children in the country.
