A weeklong high level FIFA refereeing course for first division referees is currently underway at the Friendship Hotel at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The course brings together 26 participants. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the course instructor, Mr. Joseph Werllinton, said the course aims at improving and developing referees in The Gambia. Thus, he advised participants to take the training more seriously and make good use of the course.

In an earlier statement, the president of The Gambia Football Association, Mr. Seedy M.B Kinteh, thanked FIFA for organising the course. He noted that the course would contribute immensely in the development of referees in the country.

The SOS for Youths and Sports, Mr. Sheriff Gomez, noted the significance of the training. He further noted that it would, in no small way, improve and broaden the knowledge of referees in the game.
