The Brikama Magistrate court Presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh on Tuesday 24, February,2009 sentenced one Abdou Joof to five years imprisonment with hard labour for raping an eleven-year old girl.
In delivering his judgment, Magistrate Jammeh said the victim is an eleven-year old and she is mentally retarded. He said Abdou Joof has not only stolen the victim’s innocence, but also exposed her to a part she would not have ventured into. Magistrate Jammeh told the court that he has taken into consideration the mitigation of the accused that he has a wife who delivered a baby two months ago. Magistrate Jammeh sentenced the accused to five years in jail.
Adou Joof earlier told the court that he raped the young girl because his wife had delivered one month ago and that he was sexually starving.
