The 19 Edition of the May Day Sports was last Friday held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. The event, which was witnessed by President Jammeh, the Vice-president, Ministers and Senior Government officials was organised by the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC).
The Gambia Armed Forces defended their title in the Tug of War. They defeated GCAA.
The greasy pole was won by Baboucarr Badjie of NAWEC
The Musical chair for the female category was won by Anna Nyassi of the Gambia Armed Forces.
For the Ministers race, Hon. Abdou Colley Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment came out first followed by Minister of Youth and Sports Sheriff Gomez, and Minister for Energy Ousman Jammeh came out third.
For the Female category, Minister of Justice Marie Saine Fridus came out first, followed by the Health Minister Mariatou Jallow.
For The Service Chief race, CDS Major General Lang Tombong Tamba emerged as the winner followed by Major Momodou Badjie, Director General NIA in second position, and Sajor Fofana head of the Navy secured the third place.
The National Assembly race was won by Hon Ba Faye Saidykhan, followed by Hon Seedy Njie, and the third place was captured by Hon Foday Jallow.
In the Managing Directors race Gampost Managing Director M.B .Ceesay emerged as the winner, Ebrima Barry came out second and Almamey Gassama of Gamcel captured the third place.
The Most Ugly prize was won by Hon Borry Colley. He received D10,000, followed by Gambien, a Senegalese wrestler, came out second who received D5,000, and Seedy Kinteh GFA president gets D2,500.
