The Inspector General of The Gambia Police Force, Ensa Badjie, has emphasized the unquestionable need for the country’s servicemen, particularly the police force, to be loyal to the government of the day under the dynamic leadership of Professor Alhagie Yahya Jammeh.

The police boss maintained that disloyalty to the Gambian leader and his government within his force would never be entertained under his tenure as the Inspector General.
IGP Badjie made these remarks over the weekend, in Kanilai, where he led some 1500 police officers who joined personnel from other unity of the security services in harvesting The Gambian leader’s   eight kilometre sorghum farm at the Bunubore Forest Park.

According to him, the need for loyalty in service is unquestionable. He noted that one of the criteria for promotion in the police under his tenure would be loyalty to the president and to his   government. "We in the security services have realised that we are public servants of this country in which loyalty is unquestionable.

If you are not loyal to the president and his government of the day, you have no room within my force, because I will make sure that you are out of the police force,’’ IGP Badjie stressed, while expressing   hope that this standard was well understood by all servicemen under his force.

He maintained that The Gambian leader had done a lot for   the security forces in this country, particularly the police, citing the recent donation of 14 brand new pick-ups to the police force. He said that the amount spent on those vehicles did come from the government’s coffers, rather it was from the president’s pocket. “So if President Jammeh is dying for us, we should also die for him,’’ the police boss said.

Inspector General Ensa Badjie then hailed the existing mutual and cordial relationship between the various security units in the country, pointing out that this was the secret behind their combined massive turnout on Saturday to harvest the president’s eight-kilometre Sorghum field.
