Less than one year after Tabara Samba was sentenced to death by the Kanifing Magistrates Court for pouring hot oil on her husband, which led to his death, another woman called Sainabou Gaye has been arrested for committing a similar offence.

Sainabou Gaye, a native of Bansang, was said to have poured hot water on her husband, Thomas Enchardou, a Belgian. The incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday, 25 February 2009 in the early morning at their Nyambai residence in Brikama. Confirming this the police PRO, ASP Sulayman Secka, revealed that Thomas Enchardou has been flown back to his home country, Belgium, for treatment.

According to the police spokesperson, the 33-year-old woman, who has been married to Thomas Enchardou for 2 years, has been charged temporarily with assault and actual bodily harm. As the cause of this ugly incidence is not yet established, ASP Sulayman Secka said the police are waiting for the return of Thomas Enchardou’s treatment report to enable them to charge the alleged culprit accordingly.
