Gambian Athlete Excels in Jamaica

Suwaibou Sanneh, Gambian athlete currently under going training in Kingston, Jamaica has made a remarkable progress with an impressive speed in short distance running.

According to a press release issued to Pointsports from the Gambia Athletics Association in a running test in 300metres, Suwaibou ran at a time of 33seconds, which is an impressive time of 10.1 seconds per 100metres.

The release further added that with such performance if maintained until the next Commonwealth Games he can possibly reach the finals without any problem of speed endurance test.

The release added that Suwaibou is again engaged in another competition which commenced last Friday and will end around the 28th of this month.

According to the GAA, immediately after his competition a quarterly report will be submitted  to the IAAF and the Federation by the Athletics Centre of Excellent in Jamaica.

In another development Isaac Jones a Gambian Sprinter also enrolled at this centre together with Suwaibou is on treatment with light training and is also progressing steadily.

Mr Dodou Joof alias (Capi) GAA Secretary General informed Pointsports that plans are underway to send two Gambian athletes, a  male and female, to the High Performance Training Centre in Dakar very soon.

Mr. Joof further revealed that shortly after the Secondary schools championship IAAF will conduct training for athlete’s coaches in the Gambia and participants would be drawn from the Schools, Services and Municipal Clubs.
