The purpose of the tournament is to create a platform that will promote youth agenda by creating the enabling environment that give them the opportunity to interact and participate in meaningful activities.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Bubacarr Camara, FIOH’s Programme Officer said that the tournament would create an opportunity for youths to be sensitised on the hazards of HIV/AIDs pandemic, early marriage and teenage pregnancy.
The tournament seeks the participation of both male and female youths in order to promote football at the grassroots level.
According to Mr. Camara, this event will be an annual occasion, and in that plans are underway to expand the event to other regions. He added that FIOH would provide materials and logistical supports to the participating teams.
For his part, Mr. Wandifa Kinteh, the Secretary-General of regional sport committee hailed FIOH for their initiative, adding that supporting and promoting football at grassroots level is fundamental, particularly the female folk.
