The Farafenni Red Cross Central Link, last Friday, celebtrate its ten years of existence.
The ceremony took the form of a march pass from the Soma-Farafenni main highway to the Farafenni Community Center, where the main event took place.
Speaking at the occasion, Modou Leigh, the Link leader, said in this world of today, there is a need for people to volunteer in the interest of humanity. He noted that the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement was born out of a desire to provide assistance without discrimination on the battlefield.
It endeavors in its international and national capacity to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and ensure the respect of human beings. For his part, the guest speaker, Sambujang Jagne – a former chief of North Bank Region, highlighted the important role played by the volunteers.
