Defence Counsel not Impressed with Evidence

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Lawyer Assan Martin, defending the four police officers standing trial for aiding the escape of a prisoner, submitted a ‘no case’ submission on the grounds that the evidence adduced by the prosecution witnesses against his clients is not sufficient to prove the charge.

Lawyer Martin submitted that the evidence provided by the prosecution was so weak to prove the charges of aiding preferred against his clients.

For his part, Cadet Inspector Mballow, prosecuting, urged the court to dismiss the defence’s submission.

At that juncture the presiding magistrate, Kumba Sillah-Camara adjourned the case until 11th May 2009 for ruling.
