Alleged Rapist Remanded

Omar Loum will return to court on the 7th of May from the State Central prison following his plea of not guilty to charges of attempting to rape a girl aged 4 years.

The accused appeared last Thursday before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates court for violating section 258 of the criminal code.

According to the particulars of offence the accused Omar Loum on or about the 29 April 2009 at Lamin Village,  attempted to have carnal knowledge with an under age girl.

However, the evidence revealed in court by the witness who remains anonymous, told the court that the accused took her to the bush and lay on her with intention to have intercourse with her.

The case is expected back in court on the 7th May 2009, for continuation of hearing.
