Brikama Missira Kabiloo Development Association (BMKDA) recently elected a new executive for its Village Development Committee following the dissolution of the former executive that has been in office since 1997.
According to Alieu Darboe, secretary general of the association, this development was due to the willingness of the elders to hand over their positions to the young members of the association. The elders, he said, are of the hope that young people will find it easier to carry out the work. He revealed that some of the developments that were brought into the Kabiloo by the former executive include the street lights project, which he opined, has made Missira one of the best Kabiloos in Brikama and the construction of a mosque in partnership with the African Muslim Agency.
He thanked the former executive and their partners for what he described as their hard work for the benefit of the association. Darboe further stated that the head of the new executive, Jim Danjo, aims to rehabilitate the streetlights as well as provide street taps in the Kabiloo. He stated that they are also aiming for leadership training for the Kabiloo members so as to capacitate them.
According to him, they will also take part in the promotion of health, education, sanitation and the environment. He revealed that the new executive will be officially inaugurated in March.
