The APRC and People of Kombo North will today, Friday January 16, organise a thanks giving prayers and convene a rally in a show of appreaciation for the Honourary Professorship award on the national party chairman and leader, Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, by the School of life Science & Biology, Emphessarial University of Costa Rica.
The thanks giving Prayers will be held in the morning, followed by an appreciation march from Brikama/Kombo Coastal Road Junction to Lamin Football field, commencing at 3pm, and then a mass appreciation rally.
In a letter sent to the Daily Observer, signed by Hon. Tina Faal, chairperson of the organising committee, Hon. Adama Cham, NAM for Kombo North and Alhagie Demba Sanyang, paramount chief of The Gambia, the organizers noted that the Gambian leader’s award serves as a recognition of his selfless contribution, commitment and success in the treatment of diseases hitherto deemed untreatable, and also for his service to humanity, in addition to the rapid socio-economic development and transformation of The Gambia.
The statement reads: ‘As you are aware, HE the President, National Chairman and Party Leader, has been awarded honorary Professorship by the School of life science & Biology, Emphessarial University of Costa Rica, for his selfless contribution, commitment and success in the treatment of diseases hitherto deemed untreatable - and service to humanity in addition to the rapid socio-economic development and transformation of our dear nation under his dynamic leadership.
HE The President has not only revolutionised traditional medicine, but he has also proven to the whole world that Africa and Africans have potentials that can be of benefit to humanity at large. Furthermore, it is without doubt that Gambians are blessed by the Almighty Allah for giving us a visionary and youthful leader whose primary aim and aspiration is to see Gambia second to none. We have every reason to be proud of our Dear Leader.
As a show of profound appreciation and pride for the honour and the rapid development enjoyed by the people of Kombo North, in particular, and the nation at large, the APRC and people of Kombo North are organising thanks giving prayers on Friday 16th January 2009, and an appreciation march from Brikama/Kombo Coastal Road Junction to Lamin Football field, Commencing at 3pm, to be followed by an Appreciation Rally’.
