Alleged rapist remanded

Musa Sarr, a Senegalese national who faces a rape charge was yesterday remanded by the Bundung Magistrate Court presided over by Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara.

According to the facts before the court, Musa sarr on 22nd October 2008 at Kotu, in the Kanifing Municipality, unlawfully had a carnal knowledge of  one Oumie Ceesay, age 18, without her consent. When the charge sheet was read  to him,  he did not take any plea and informed the court that his counsel travelled and was therefore absent from court.

Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara informed the court that the case will proceed with or without the accused person’s counsel. The case was then adjourned to Monday February 23th, 2008 for the accuse to take his plea. Police prosecutor Sergeant 799 Badjie, stood in for the IGP.
