Alleged Impersonator Arraigned

One Alhagie Dembo Jarju was last Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court accused of impersonation and giving false information to the President’s Office.

According to the particulars of offence Alhagie Dembo Jarju on or about the 14th day of April 2009, while at the Office of the President in the Republic of The Gambia, the accused falsely represented himself as the APRC constituency  chairman in the Western Region.

While count two stated that on the 18th of March 2009 at diverse places, the accused wrote to the Office of the President saying that the political development in Marakisa needed urgent attention as people in the village are not in good terms, information which he blatantly knew to be false.

When the charged was read to the accused he pleaded not guilty to the offences and subsequently he was granted court bail to provide one Gambian surety with a landed property in the Western Region.

Hearing continues on the 26th of May 2009.
