Knee scan cheers Mustapha Carayol

Torquay United's injured winger Mustapha Carayol is hoping to be back in action for his side in time for next Tuesday night's Blue Square Premier home game against struggling Lewes.

In-form Carayol, who passed up the chance to star for the Gambia Under 20 team in the qualifiers for the 2009 Rwanda Under 20 finals, was not with the Torquay United squad for last Saturday’s 2-1 win against York City.

And there was concern that the 19-year-old pace forward could be sidelined for some time because of a knee injury.

But United manager Paul Buckle reported: "I might have him back next week.
"We were worried that Mustapha might have ruptured something or damaged his cartilage.

"But, with luck, it's not as bad as we feared, and we are hoping the knee will settle down over the weekend."

A last-minute goal by Mark Ellis gave Torquay all three points at York City on Saturday as they stretched their unbeaten run to 14 games and moved into second place in the Blue Square Premier. Torquay could top the table if they beat Lewes at Plainmoor on Tuesday night.
