Reports reaching the Daily Observer have revealed that over D58,000 went missing at The Gambia Electrical Company’s (GEC) Western Union branch, located along the Kairaba Avenue.
According to our sources , one Mr Kwamla Carr, a resident of Fajara, was arrested on Wednesday by police personnel from the Bundung Police Station in connection with the said theft case.
Our sources further revealed that the stolen sum of money belongs to some people who were supposed to receive monies sent by their relatives abroad through that particular Western Union branch.
When contacted, ASP Sulayman Secka, the public relations officer of the Gambia Police Force, confirmed the story.
PRO Secka also confirmed to the Daily Observer that investigations are in progress and that the suspect (Kwamla Carr) is still under police detention.
