Gambia to observe Fair Play Day

The Gambia Football Association will join the rest of the world to observe World FIFA Fair Play Day on Friday, September 21.

A statement from The Gambia Football Association said this year’s observation in The Gambian will be held in conjunction with the United Nations International Days of Peace on Friday.

“Although Fair Play is a principle that should be applied all year round, the FIFA Fair Play Day provides football with a special occasion for recognising and highlighting the best examples of sportsmanship of the year.

To help observe the special day in the Gambia, we would like to call on the Nawettan Committees to incorporate Fair Play  Day activities into football fixtures in their respective communities during the weekend of 21 to 23 September, 2007.”

We also encourage member zonal committees to actively promote sportsmanship,” the statement announced.
