17 Gambian Foreign Based Players Invited

The Gambia Football Association (GFA) has invited 17 foreign-based players for the crucial African Nations Cup qualifier game against Algeria on Sunday September 9, 2007.

The list includes two U-20 players namely Ousman Jallow of Al-Ain FC in United Arab Emirates and Ebrima Sohna of Sand fjord F C in Norway.

Ebrima Sawaneh of Berveren FC in Belgium, who marked his national debut in the U-23 last year, has been called for a bigger task.

Pa Ousman Sonko of Salzburg Stadion Strasse FC would return in the national colours after several years of absence.

He last played for the Gambia U-17 that qualified for the nations cup in 2003 in Swaziland.

The seventeen foreign based would join the local players currently training at the Independence Stadium.

It could be noted the Gambia need to beat Algeria by three goal margin and hope Cape Verde to upset Guinea in Conakry.
