The initiative by some Gambian-based foreign teachers to form an organization in The Gambia is increasingly reaping rewards.

Synergy of Expatriate Educators-The Gambia, SEEG, was formed in 2005 following the realization of a need for foreign teachers to organize themselves into a formidable front so as to be able to effectively champion their cause.

Among its objectives, SEEG strives towards sharpening the tools of its members for better education service delivery.

Mr. Israel Oneli, Director of SEEG, said the organization was formed by a handful of foreign teachers with a view to improving the welfare of members and by extension improving the quality of education in the country.

He said that SEEG also advocates for people who could not continue with their education career thanks to poverty or ignorance, adding that the organization also protects its members from any abuse.

According to Mr. Oneli, SEEG is poised to promote education-related issues as a way of contributing towards eliminating illiteracy and cognate matters .He said the outfit would also help in enhancing access to scientific knowledge and technology as well as modern teaching methods.

SEEG is a boon for its members. “Apart from the aims and objectives of the organization, there’s a lot the foreign teachers stand to benefit from SEEG,” he added.

Mr. Oneli finally called on expatriate teachers to unite in efforts to promote education in The Gambia.
